Many apps claim to be 3D apps, these use an algorithm that tricks the picture in to seeming to be 3D but in reality it isnt, theres no true depth or perspective in those videos. You need two eyes (cameras) capturing from two different points in order to record in true 3D.

This App works with other iPhone and/or iPod touch you have access to and allows you to record video in 3D. training videos can be found on the developers website.
